Henrik Stenson came up just short at the PGA Championship in his bid to win his first major tournament, but he is still having a monster year. In addition to finishing third at the PGA Championship, he finished second at the British Open and is currently in the top 10 in FedEx points. And he’s doing it with a little-known putter brand in his bag.
Henrik Stenson’s putter is a special “Inspired by Henrik Stenson” model crafted by Piretti Fine Putters, an artisan putter producer based in Texas. The putter was co-designed by Stenson and Piretti founder Mike Johnson. It features a Piretti Cottonwood II model head with a lengthened hosel to lessen the toe hang, per Stenson’s preference. It features custom Stenson-inspired markings and a yellow-and-blue paintfill motif, including a blue Iomic grip. The putter is precision milled from carbon steel.
Only 150 of these individually numbered prototype putters were made, and Stenson plays with the first one numbered 001. Some are still available for $650. If you want to know more about the foundations of this putter, check out our Piretti Cottonwood II putter review and our interview with Mike Johnson.
Who should use it: Golfers who want a traditional heel-toe blade with sturdy girth and less toe hang…and who are prepared to shell out for an heirloom putter.
