PING Golf’s Nome putter is getting a makeover with the new PING Nome TR mallet featuring “variable-depth grooves” milled directly into the face.
The grooves initially appeared on the company’s Scottsdale TR series putters, and have now migrated to Nome franchise. According to PING, the grooves are deepest in the center of the putter face, and grow shallower toward the perimeter. The company says that this results in “a nearly 50 percent improvement in ball speed consistency.” Angel Cabrera used the technology in his PING putter en route to a playoff loss at the 2013 Masters.
The Nome TR features 350-gram black aluminum head with a contrasting alignment bar and black sightline. The design creates high MOI for enhanced forgiveness. The cost is $300.
