MacGregor Golf’s Response DCT Putter earns PutterZone.com’s Next Level Award for taking an established putter company to the next level in 2007. The Odyssey Marxman Putter with White Hot XG technology and Never Compromise Exchange Series Putters are the runners up.
Every year, putter companies unveil their newest creations at the PGA Merchandise Show in January or shortly thereafter. Now that the competitive dust has settled over the past several months, PutterZone.com is inspired to present our 2007 Midyear Putter Awards, starting with the Next Level Award. Stay tuned this week for the Comeback Award, Heritage Award, Staying Power Award and Anticipation Award.
MacGregor’s Response DCT putter reasserts MacGregor Golf as a major putter force while paying tribute to the company’s original Response putter, which Jack Nicklaus used to sink some epic putts on his way to winning the Masters in 1986. Designed by the legendary Bobby Grace, the MacGregor Response DCT Putter is a large mallet featuring two key technologies: Distance Control Technology (DCT) and Face-Off Technology.
Face-Off Technology enables you to choose from two interchangeable putter faces: a polymer face designed for faster greens and a titanium face for slower greens. Both faces feature Distance Control Technology, in which the face inserts are denser and harder as they move away from center, therefore transferring more energy to the ball on miss-hits, and thus correcting putts that otherwise would fall far short of the hole.
The Response DCT Putter’s one-two punch of innovative technologies truly takes MacGregor’s putter program to the next level and invigorates the legacy of Bobby Grace.
Runners Up
The Odyssey Marxman is the successor to the company’s wildly successful Two Ball Putter, which was distinguished by its groundbreaking alignment properties and White Hot insert technology. The Odyssey Marxman takes both to the next level, offering a striking new alignment system and White Hot XG insert technology, which improves on the original by offering a multi-material composition for improved feel and feedback. The Odyssey Marxman ultimately represents the best of both worlds, with fertile new ideas rooted in proven technological soil.
Meanwhile, Never Compromise took a firm step into the future this year with its Exchange Series putters. In the opinion of PutterZone.com, Never Compromise’s putters had become a bit dreary and unexciting over the past few years. No more. The Never Compromise Exchange Series putters, which boast an unprecedented customized weighting system, are flashy, exciting and tour proven. Never Compromise is obviously heeding its own eponymous advice, and the company’s best is likely yet to come.
