In the game of life, cancer is a serious hazard—which is why one golf company is doing its part to fight the disease with a new line of putters under the banner of “Think Pink.”
Sweet Spot Golf, a newcomer on the equipment scene, is not only an official sponsor of the National Breast Cancer Foundation, but also supports the cause with its Think Pink putters, which were unveiled this month. PutterZone.com queried Brian Allman, president of Sweet Spot Golf, about the company’s charitable focus on cancer-related causes, and he replied: “All of the partners in Sweet Spot Golf have had people in our families who have either died or suffered from cancer. We also know many people who are currently going through it. Breast cancer is a disease that can be beat, and with more research it will be beat. We are committed to doing our small part to help find a cure in this one way we know how.”
Sweet Spot’s Think Pink putters are precursors to a series of putters, drivers and hybrids that the company will release this fall—each unified by a signature arrow-shaped alignment design that is enhanced by striking color combinations.
According to the company, Sweet Spot putters boast a high MOI for added forgiveness; a weighty feel for a smooth stroke; a high center of gravity for improved roll; and beveling for easy stroke control around the fringe of the green. The standard loft is three degrees. The faces are precision milled.
Ironically, just two days ago a scientific study was released claiming that there is “a biological basis for why women prefer pink.” PutterZone.com won’t comment on that (please don’t shoot the messenger), but pink does seem to be proliferating on the LPGA and Futures tours, with Paula Creamer being a particularly notable proponent.
