Look what the cat dragged in…Well, not quite, because wouldn’t let the cat anywhere near these sweet new Srixon orbs!
Indeed, we are honored to be among the first to offer a sneak peek at the new Srixon Z-STAR and Z-STAR XV balls, which are debuting at the PGA Merchandise Show today, and which will hit the retail shelves in the first week of February.
The new Z-STAR and Z-STAR XV balls are said to feature “innovative enhancements from core to cover,” including a second-generation Spinkin cover; Speed Dimples with a 324 dimple pattern; and an Energetic Gradient Growth Core. The result? According to Srixon, it’s “the best performing tour ball Srixon has ever made.”
So what’s the difference between the Z-STAR and Z-STAR XV? The XV is made for golfers with faster swing speeds.
We haven’t had the opportunity to hack around with these balls yet, but we’re always interested in how balls feel on the green, not just how they fly off the tee.
That said, the Z-STAR is probably more in our wheelhouse, with a slightly softer feel off the putter face in our highly scientific office putting test. That squares with earlier iterations of the Z-STAR balls, which have long proven to offer fine feel on the green, with a nice balance of suppleness and feedback.
